Felipe Steinmetz appointed President and CEO of Airbus Military EADS PZL “Warszawa – Okecie”

Felipe Steinmetz Comunión, currently Head of Procurement Airframe & Material in Airbus Military, has been appointed President and CEO of Airbus Military EADS PZL “Warszawa – Okecie” S.A. as of 23rd September 2013, succeeding Javier Díaz Gil, who is taking up a new role as CEO of Alestis, a tier 1 aerospace supplier, based in Spain.
In his new position Mr. Steinmetz will report directly to Miguel Ángel Morell, Head of Operations of Airbus Military, and he will be responsible for the industrial activities of the company, which include production of subassemblies for different Airbus and Airbus Military programmes (A330, C295, and CN235), the development, flight test and production of the turboprop trainer PZL-130 Orlik TC-II, as well as the company’s MRO Service Centre in Warsaw and its Aviation Services Unit in Mielec.

Airbus Military in Poland
Polish subsidiary of Airbus Military was established following the take-over of PZL “Warszawa-Okecie” by EADS CASA (currently Airbus Military) in 2001. The company operating now as Airbus Military EADS PZL “Warszawa-Okecie” has two sites in Warsaw and Mielec employing over 800 staff. Airbus Military in Warsaw is a major supplier of subassemblies for the CN235 and C295 programmes and since November 2011 it has been operating a MRO Service Center Warsaw for the Polish Air Force C295 fleet and other potential customers as well as for other Airbus Military products. Its competence encompasses also design and manufacture of small trainer aircraft and manufacture of harnessing for several Airbus commercial types. Airbus Military EADS PZL “Warszawa-Okecie” also maintains a significant operation at its Mielec site offering aviation services (agroservices, firefighting, and environmental protection operations).
